Searching for Zora
Walker goes on a journey to find the grave, and as she is flying over Eatonville she recognizes it as some of Zora's books and autobiography describe it. Walker and her friend Charlotte go to Zora's hometown and find some one who might know a little about Zora's, they give her information about the grave and how she dies, which was wrong, but they point her to an old woman who went to school with Zora, but that's all. They discover her unmarked grave completely covered in weeds, Then they meet a man and he gives them some good information about Zora. It is ironic that Zora uses real characters in her novels such as Jody Starks was a character formed from the real mayor of Eatonville. Later they find Zora's old house that she used to live in, and find out that her and her family did not get along, which leads to her unmarked grave. They also found that Zora had only one companion which was her dog.

Janies Blue Life
Janies Blues
what makes Janie feel sad?
She wants to find true love so very bad.
All she wants is a husband, to hold and to love,
but what she gets is quite opposite, a push and a shove.
All of her life since she was a child,
Has never been easy, never meek nor mild.
Nanny was all that Janie had,
No brothers no sisters no mother no dad.
She grew up with friends, the color of white.
But others of that color did not approve of this sight.
All of her life since she was a child,
Has never been easy, never meek nor mild.
Nanny was all that Janie had,
No brothers no sisters no mother no dad.
She grew up with friends, the color of white.
But others of that color did not approve of this sight.
Janie oh Janie with her long brown hair,
you will catch her lying quietly under the tree of a pear.
at sixteen quietly thinking of her life,
shes thinking only about being a girl, not being a wife.
She rushed into marriage hoping to seem older
But that burnt quickly into a smolder
Janie ran off directly thereafter,
Hoping to find love, happiness and laughter
What seemed great for an hour or two,
Soon became the reason for Janie being blue.

Janie's future
"There are years that ask questions and years that answer." Write a speculative response on what the upocoming year will hold for Janie. Will this eyar be the year that asks questions or one that answers them? Will this be the year that does both? Respond to at least three peers.
When she was sixteen she had a year full of questions, she did not know who she was going to marry or what she even wanted in her life. Her Nanny was telling her to do so many things that she did not know how to do. Even after was was married, she still had questions about love, she did not know if she was supposed to feel the love right away or not.
In the upcoming year I think janie will still have a lot of unanswered questions and things she will be curious about just as she had in the passed. She leaves Logan and marries Jody, which she believes will make her happy but i believe this upcoming year will bring problems with jody as well.

express your feelings
Being able to speak and express ideas is often a sign of being independent, to be independent you need to voice your own opinion. Being independent has a lot to do with going your own way, you cannot be part of the "mainstream" crowd.
When a independent person experiences another person being bullied, they stand up for what they believe in. those who are independent will express their ideas and are the "leaders" who others look up to. individuals who are afraid of speaking up are followers who are afraid of rejection or they are afraid of being made fun of.
Whether you are the leaders or followers in the world is your choice, it is better in my opinion to be a leader, but the world would not function if there was only very independent people, and none of those who follow them. There are two types of people in this world: those who lead independently, or those who follow others.

daisy gets to people.
1.) What is it about daisy's voice that gets to people? other people that talk like her aren't as disliked for their voices as she is, why is this?
2.) Do you think there is a certain significance behind myrtle's changing frequently?

poetry within
The interior was unprosperous and bare;
the only car visible,
was the dust-covered wreck of a Ford,
which crouched in a dim corner.
It had occurred to me,
that this shadow of a garage must be a blind;
and that sumptuous,
and romantic apartments were concealed overhead.
when the proprietor himself appeared in the door of an office,
wiping his hands on a piece of waste.
He was a blond,
spiritless man,
anaemic, and faintly handsome.
When he saw us,
a damp gleam of hope sprang into his light blue eyes.
(Fitzgerald 29)

Happiness in money
Are people with money happier than people without money?
I think people with money are happier than people without money, take for instance a homeless person, it is likely that they are not as happy and someone who has money. Someone who has to scavenge for a decent meal, doesn't have a warm house to sleep in, and never really has anything to call their own. Someone with money does have things they can call their own , such as a house, clothes, food and other necessities. Although money is not everything, it is needed for almost everything. People do not need to be rich necessarily to be happy but having no money at all won't make very many people happy. I don't have the most money in the world, but I'm not poor either and I'm pretty happy. Money does not buy happiness but to be happy i do believe you must have money, not a lot, not a little. But enough.

How is society today?
For the most part, yes, peoples looks are very deceptive, because someone who looks snobby could be the sweetest person you will ever meet. But some people fit their looks which isn't deceiving.
Sometimes when I meet a person they say they didn't like me before they met me, they say that I have a mean look on my face when I walk around, that I look like I would be mean, but after they meet me they realize their predictions or thoughts were wrong.
I think we are too concerned about looks (myself included) because we should embrace our god given looks. I know no one wants to look bad and that's okay but don't over do it.
I think most peoples views in life are substantial, but of course there's always going to be different people who are empty.
Honestly I know they say that someone's looks and money shouldn't matter, but who are we kidding, if someone is good-looking that's most likely what caught your attention in the first place, but attitude definitely has to go with looks.
And money, of course money matters, if you plan on being successful or having a family, you need to have money. People are always taught to look at someone's personality and not their money and Im not saying people should go out looking for money but it is definitely important for a significant other to have.

Assimilation
Assimilation is the act of being adopted into a nationality of which you were not born into in the first place. Assimilation is when you take in other cultures as if they were your own for example the music, food, style and ideas.
In the play everyone shows assimilation, all the children do when they talk about wanting to be rich and have money and all these nice things like white families do. Beneath Shows assimilation when she is dating men because she goes out with white men and tries to search for money. Walter shows assimilation when he talks about wanting to own a liquor shop because he wants to be successful just like white men.
The play shows assimilation as a strength and a weakness, it's a strength because they want to succeed and they want what is the best for them and their families. But it's a weakness because they forget where they come from, and other black families might get offended by them 'acting white'.
people assimilate around me all the time. I assimilate all the time. Going to a mainly Hispanic school of course I assimilate, I'm white but I do listen to music and talk different than I ever did growing up because I wasn't exposed to it. If people didn't assimilate there would be so much controversy and the minorities would be overlooked.
Eric Lou's views on assimilation are pretty similar to mine, he wants to able to live equally and continue to have his own heritage but he does find himself assimilating just like everyone else, he knows that if you are a minority in any group of people that it will be hard and that you will feel out of place but you do tend to fit in eventually.

My family over anything!
What do I think is more important? My family or my own desires, it's non debatable when I say family is so much more important then my desires. My family gets me through tough times and helps me to make the right choices. My thoughts don't comfort me or love me and there not always the right decisions. Something in my life that has led me to believe this is just knowing and having my family here for me at all times, there has never been a time where I've felt like my family wasn't there to pick me up. My thoughts however don't always back me up. Sometimes I say things that backfire on me and get me into trouble. So family is definitely more important to me that my personal desires.

My American Dream
My ideal American dream would be for everyone to have enough money to be happy, that jobs would not be so hard to find and keep and the pay would not be so low. In a perfect America everyone would get a house to live in. That wasnt falling apart, with a roof, electricity, water and plumbing. Of course none of this comes for free so everyone would be required to have a job to work for the things they need to live. Everyone should have an education, and a good one, no one would be allowed to drop out. Everyone would have a license to drive except of course visually impaired people or others who are physically incapable of driving, with reasonable car insurance. There would be no drugs unless perscribed by a doctor, people wouldn't steal or damage someone else's property. And lastly everyone should have to have insurance but should get the same level of health care they need no matter where they went, and for an affordable cost.
The American Dream
The American Dream is all about freedom, equality and opportunity. This dream is ideally for all Americans who want the political, social and economical sucess for every individual. The American dream can also be described as a belief in freedom and that the people of America could achieve their goals in life by hard work and be successful. There are several different ways of viewing the American dream, for some, it is the opportunity to achieve more prosperity than they originally could if they were from another country, for others it is the chance for them to have families and have their children grow up in a society that they can succeed in having an education and career opportunities. And for the rest it could be the freedoms to not be held back by restraints pertaining to race, ethnicity, or class.
